Herndon MS Curriculum Night: Date Change
UPDATE: Due to FCPS winter weather afterschool activities cancellation on January 17, Curriculum Night is now rescheduled for January 24.
Special meetings regarding Special Education and ESOL will begin at 6:00 PM. There will be a general information session in the auditorium. Topics include the course selection and registration process and an overview of core curriculum, honors and advanced academics program and how placement decisions are made. Learn about our electives and more in a Showcase of HMS Programs held in the gyms.
No Tardy Party
In an effort to support our students and teachers, HMS has made it a priority for students to get to class on time, prepared, and ready to work. To recognize the many students who do that on a consistent basis, we will celebrate our first No Tardy Party on Feb. 21. Students who have zero unexcused tardies to school/class from Jan. 15 - Feb. 15 will be recognized by being invited to the No Tardy Party, where they will have a chance to enjoy games, music, food, and much more. Please take some time to encourage your child to have zero tardies starting Jan. 15.

Special Education Department Chair
Beginning January 7th, we are pleased to announce that Aimee Conrad will be taking over the role of Special Education Department Chair. She has been part of our HMS staff for three years. She has taught special education in the Herndon pyramid for 13 years and held various leadership positions at the elementary and middle school levels. Ms. Conrad is excited to continue to work with the parents and students of the Herndon community in her new role. Read more here.
For students who want to go home together on the bus after school:
Bus Notes: a hand-written bus note, with parent’s signature, is required from both parents of the students making the request. A temporary bus pass will not be issued without the hand written notes from both families. These policies are in place for your child’s safety. Thank you for cooperation and understanding. Notes must be submitted to the office before the last block of the day.
