This page holds many resources that you will need to access throughout the school year.
Items like ParentVUE are essential for keeping updated with your students accomplishments! FCPS has also gone digital with many of the consent forms and Opt In/Out forms your student needs throughout the school year. You can also use tools to communicate with Herndon MS staff, as well as get reports on your students digital habits throughout the school day.
If you are not already registered for any of the items below, we highly encourage you to do so!
ParentVUE
SIS ParentVUE is a live look at your students attendance and gradebook. At middle and high school levels, the gradebooks are live- which means you can view your students grades in real time. You can see notes from the teachers on assignments, as well as attendance for classes.

We know that technology comes with its benefits and challenges, however FCPS has an outstanding Help Desk. If you need passwords reset, or submit a ticket for your child computer, use this Parent Support Request portal for your FCPS Tech needs.
Parent Digital Consent
In order for your student to have access to all of the educational digital tools used throughout the school year, parents must give consent.
Without this consent, students will be blocked from certain sites, not have access to educational applications, or even be able to view educational Youtube videos to help have mastery of learning.
Please complete this Parent Digital Consent forms; directions are available on the website, and it can be translated (in the upper right hand corner)
** Note: You must complete this form for every individual student you have in FCPS

Schoology
Schoology Parent Account provides: access to view your child’s courses, groups, assignments, and calendar. Parents can also check messages, adjust their notification settings, and access additional groups or courses if they are enrolled as members.
All HMS students are enrolled in Schoology courses, for each subject in school. Their teachers post announcements, assignments, and assessments through Schoology- its a great way to see what wonderful work your student has been doing throughout the school year.
Lightspeed
Parent Report Request
Lightspeed is a digital management system, where teachers can monitor student's online activity during classes. This teaches them digital citizenship and ethical researching skills.
Parents can request Lightspeed parent reports to see their students weekly activities throughout the school day, when on an FCPS device. This is a great tool to stay updated with your students digital footprints.
Talking Points
TalkingPoints is an easy and safe way families can communicate in their home languages with their child’s teachers for free. We will be using this platform to communicate with you about your child’s education and progress.
This system links up with SIS ParentVUE; messages will be sent to your registered phone number and whatever you select as your Home Language is what the messages will be translated to automatically.
You can use SMS texts or download the App on your phone, by searching Talking Points in your app store.
